One of the most successful collaborations in casual footwear design with runway design is the one carried out by COMME des GARÇONS PLAY and Converse. And this time, they are ready to present a reinterpretation of their Chuck 70 design.
Available in high and low height options, the COMME des GARÇONS PLAY x Converse Chuck 70 sports a bright red midsole and foxing configurations. Accented by contrasting black or white stripe details, new outsole unit tooling serves to match the iconic heart and eyes logo found on the collaboration.
The classic black or white premium canvas upper is printed with co-branding and features contrast panel strips to the rear.
To reveal the reinterpretation of the COMME des GARÇONS PLAY x Converse Chuck 70, co-creative directors Ronnie Cooke Newhouse and Karl Bolander, along with legendary fashion photographer Craig McDean, captured the shoes against a bold scarlet background. In front of it, the models are playfully stacked in still-life arrangements and highlighted using a digital processing technique called «Focus Stacking,» serving to express a fresh new perspective on the upcoming release.
The updated COMME des GARÇONS PLAY x Converse Chuck 70, with red accents, will be available in Hi and Lo options on March 24 at COMME des GARÇONS and Dover Street Market locations – excluding Japan-, and online through DSM and Converse, and by select retailers.
