Mixology is an art that has gained recognition and prestige in recent years. Through mixes and cocktails, mixologists and Bar Managers have become true rockstars of nightlife. It is not a coincidence that initiatives like Tales of the Cocktail and similar ones have been a success for bars, producers, and other platforms. A cathedral in Mexico City to enjoy the best of mixology is Four Season’s Fifty Mils, in the heart of Paseo de la Reforma, thanks to its new Bar Manager, Nico Castro.
With the help of a renewed team, he will transform, stage by stage, this mixology laboratory to continue being in the hearts of locals and travelers who visit the hotel.
From the first weeks of June, new cocktails and old classics will present with a slight twist that will give them more freshness. Like a drink that is both familiar and different. For example, the iconic Bugs Bunny now goes as Lola Bunny, keeping some ingredients and methods from the original recipe and adding a creative touch.
Nico Castro is an award-winning Argentine mixologist with around 25 years of experience in the beverage industry and customer service and a pupil of Renato Tato Giovannovi; recently considered one of the best bartenders in the world. As an expert in classic cocktails, Castro focuses on bringing traditional recipes to modernity. He shapes storytelling for each drink and uses fresh and seasonal ingredients that highlight the attributes and flavors of these canonical cocktails.
The renewed Fifty Mils menu – created by Nico Castro and his team – aims to provide 360° experiences. Cocktails that bring a story behind them, fresh ingredients, high-end labels and spirits, and the quality that has characterized Fifty for decades.
The idea is to present an entire experiential bar with different cocktails and activities that adjust to each season. To offer new things to visitors from time to time, said Nicolás Moretti, Director of Food & Beverage at Four Seasons.
During the following months, a novel menu will offer delicious dishes gracefully linked to the cocktails of this renewed stage for Fifty. Also, experiences will change each weekday. Enjoy an afternoon of aperitifs based on the concept of Little Italy, or, for example, a Monday focused on classic recipes and cocktails that seem lost in time.
