Today, Mrs. Regina Romero continues to advise her sons Juan Carlos and Jorge on the company management and is devoted to identifying new trends. Over time, Carlos Romero Huxley and Regina Calzada de Romero ventured into the leather business, associating themselves with tanneries in the north of Mexico. And in 1973, they began the manufacture of women’s footwear, where Mexican know-how consolidated.
For the first time, El Palacio de Hierro sells a brand of footwear that is not it’s own and of national origin in its stores. The dream, work, and passion of Regina Romero have consolidated: the public recognizes the essence of Regina Romero as a Mexican brand of quality and global design.
In 1984, after more than ten years of experience in the high-end Mexican footwear market, the Regina Romero brand launched its historic store in Presidente Masaryk in Mexico City. At the same time, Carlos and Regina involve their four children in the development of the brand.
During the late eighties – due to the economic crisis and the peso devaluation – Regina Romero decided to develop national suppliers that could handle high-quality international standards. That promoted the evolution of the Mexican footwear industry.
During the next fifteen years, Regina Romero, in addition to her stores in Mexico City, Monterrey, Cuernavaca, and Acapulco, has a presence in four large department stores.
During the nineties, Regina Romero enters a new stage: she modernizes. It is the rebirth of the personality of Regina Romero. The vision of a Mexican woman who rediscovers her authenticity and defined traits and finds a way to express them through a contemporary and innovative design language.
