The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021 list is available now. It is created annually by an influential group of more than 1,000 opinion leaders, including writers, food critics, chefs, restaurateurs, and international culinary experts, with a gender ratio of 50/50. They are the ones who make up The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy.
In this edition, to counteract the effects of international travel restrictions and limited opportunities to sample last year’s various proposals, the 2021 list has been created from a combination of the votes cast in January 2020 (never published before) and a voting update back in March 2021.
Each voter had the opportunity to update their 2020 selections based solely on the experiences of restaurants in their region in the 14 months since the previous round of voting, reflecting the growing importance of local restaurants. Therefore, the 2021 list has is created from a combination of broader pre-pandemic experiences and, where possible, recent local updates.
It is worth mentioning that none of the event sponsors intervene in the voting process and that the professional services consultant, Deloitte, independently solves the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. This resolution guarantees the protection of the integrity and authenticity of the voting process and the resulting list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2021.
We are proud to share that Mexico City has two extraordinary representatives on this list, Quintonil, and Pujol. In addition, the latter is also awarded as the Best Restaurant in North America of 2021.
