The Apple Watch has been positioned for years as a piece of technology to make our day-to-day life easier. It helps us to organize, communicate and even to know and improve our state of health. And now, according to the latest reports, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will feature a temperature sensor that can detect if you have a fever.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the watch can detect an increase in body temperature. It won’t provide the actual reading but will suggest a visit to a doctor or a thermometer if necessary. Rumors about a body temperature sensor have been circulating for more than a year, since January of last year, in the wake of changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The sources add that the sensor still has to pass internal tests, but it will be included in the Watch Series 8 once it passes all the requirements. Previous reports from The Wall Street Journal claimed that the sensor could also help with fertility tracking, as changes in temperature could help detect if someone is pregnant or having their period.
