PARIS.- Rami Al Ali presents his spring/summer 2022 ready-to-wear collection that pays tribute to the famous English painter Albert Joseph Moore. The 25-piece collection embraces the same ideals represented in Moore’s work, highlighting a harmonious relationship between shape and color.
Moore’s work evokes a dreamlike element, acknowledged for his depictions of languid female figures portrayed against ornate backgrounds; this element is inherent in Al Ali’s designs. Fabrics like tulle and chiffon feed a fantasy to create a romanticism felt throughout the collection. Powerful drapes and sultry silhouettes, designed to float against the body, adding a touch of whimsy to the lineup. The exceptional architectural nods provide the modern touch synonymous with the house.
The collection has an eclectic mix of feminine details, including wavy skirts, cascading ruffles. Floor-length gowns mix with playful tea-length minidresses and elegantly cut jumpsuits.
Strong architectural forms beautifully enhance the female form, while reiterations of popular archived silhouettes add a sense of familiarity. Inspired by the same decorative approach Moore uses in his classic themes, Al Ali conveys his penchant for detail. The embroidery is elegantly feminine, with romantic hand-sewn floral motifs with decorative ornaments.
Ornate beads and intricate lace play an integral role in the collection’s makeup, speaking of the feminine codes of the house. With all the hallmarks of a unique haute couture design, each look offers the same level of attention to detailed manual work to ensure a luxurious feel.
The level of adornment contrasts between more muted styles shaped as elegant column dresses to densely decorated cape dresses. The color palette is collected and serene, with vivid hues in shades of peach, pink, light blue, and lime, with careful touches of gold working to elevate the designs.
