Palacio de Hierro Centro has been part of the history of fashionistas and fashion lovers in Mexico. This iconic venue has been a temple of fashion for decades, and thanks to its architecture and exquisite offer, it is part of the affections of fashionholics whom it celebrates and recognizes in a fabulous exhibition under the title, Women in Fashion.
Fashion as a space for commercial development has always had women and their image as clients and potential users. However, in the collective imagination, from a mistaken creative point of view, fashion has been produced by men for women.
From September 5 to October 30, 2022, El Palacio de Hierro Centro presents the temporary exhibition: Women in Fashion. It seeks to show how fashion has also been a female arena in the creative area and how, from the commercial scene, it has served to imagine various representations and types of women who can feel desired, clothed, and embellished by it.
This exhibition explores the image of women as possible clients and users of products associated with fashion, beauty, and hygiene, and also how women designers have evolved in techniques and aesthetics that other designers have taken up at different times in history. In addition, Women in Fashion shares four thematic nuclei: Designers, Innovators, Women and Consumption, and Women, Fashion and Representation.
Designers will present the work of Mexican and foreign designers present in the fashion industry in different periods of history. Here you will find images, garments, and accessories from several modern and contemporary designers from Mexico and the world, like Chanel, Madame Grès, Stella McCartney, Nina Ricci, Vivienne Westwood, Rei Kawakubo, Anne Klein, and others.
The «Innovative» section will show the technical and commercial innovations that different women have done in fashion and its system at various times in history.
