If you are looking for something completely different, unique, and original, these two options have been designed for this. Whether learning a little more about nature or living a multi-sensorial, artistic experience, traveling is not only about discovering new destinations but also about living new adventures. This is the second of two parts.
Unforgettable experience
In addition to resting, having fun, and improving our tan, vacations are about creating unforgettable memories. It is not just about choosing an idyllic destination or the most beautiful hotel. It is also paramount to consider what experiences and activities these places offer us to help us enjoy and build these memories.
For this vacation season, Chablé Yucatán provides its guests with unique experiences, like bringing them closer to the sacred bees. All through native ceremonies and original creations. That they can enjoy after participating in their harvest through the incredible Be a Bee Keeper Experience and other happenings around the melipona bee.
Since its foundation, Chablé Hotels has shown fundamental concern for caring for the flora and fauna that are part of the regions where its properties are located. Among these species is the legendary and rare melipona bee called the Sacred Mayan bee for the particular attributes that this beautiful species has.
Also known as Beechie Bee, has been part of the Mayan culture for centuries thanks to the healing properties that its honey gives. In addition, its precious value is related to the physical and production differences it has compared to other species of bees: the melipona lacks a stinger, which makes it more vulnerable to attack by any predator, plus it generates only 0.5 % of honey than any average hive, making it even more peculiar and unique.
At Chablé Yucatán, various activities and strategies have been designed to conserve this small population of bees. Always with the support of experts leading the optimal development and preservation of the melipona bees that inhabit the hotel areas. Including a sanctuary and the ‘Be a Bee Keeper’ experience, where guests can get up close and personal with this incredible species, learning about its history, behavior, and even biology.
Starting with the meliponario by experts who study the natural behavior of the so-called Mayan bee. This sanctuary was created so that this species can naturally produce its honey in a safe environment, free of predators. Made up of boxes specially designed to serve as hives. You will have the opportunity to engage in an ancient ceremony where the Mayan god of the bee is asked for a good harvest and toast with Balché. A traditional regional drink to later harvest Melipona honey, straight from the hives. An experience that could hardly be replicated in another part of the country and the world.
To complement this rewarding experience, visitors can also participate in the Bee Workshop. Where different products from the hives of Chablé Yucatán, produced by the meliponas, such as honey and wax, for the preparation of handmade honey soaps, honey candies, and beeswax candles.
