Elegant and conscious design is a trait to which Prada is increasingly committed. From June 6 to 8, Prada Frames at the National Braidense Library in Milan, a multidisciplinary symposium parallel to Milan’s Salone del Mobile, aims to delve into the complex relationship between the natural environment and design.
The initiative is a moment of collective reflection that aims to examine and correlate innovative thinking while offering a cutting-edge body of knowledge.
The symposium is curated by Formafantasma, a research and design studio company based in Milan and Rotterdam, which focuses on design’s historical, political, and social implications. Formafantasma also applies a critical approach to materials and their use in production processes.
The approach taken by Prada Frames is scientific and, at the same time, educational and informative. This forum facilitates the valuable contribution of academics and professionals, like scientists, architects, designers, artists, activists, anthropologists, and legal experts.
The first edition of the symposium starts from the ecosystem of the forest and the logic that governs the wood industry today, extending this thought to the role of design and science as agents of change.
Prada Frames will present two sessions per day, including readings, debates, conversations, and video projections, with the participation of, among others, Amitav Ghosh, Eyal Weizman, Anna Tsing, and the Feral Atlas, Paola Antonelli, and Alice Rawsthorn, Paulo Tavares, Andrés Jaque, and Valerie Trout.
