That is the premise behind Repárate como un Kintsugi, a wellness retreat in Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, taking place October 21–26, 2026. The experience draws inspiration from the philosophy behind the Japanese art of kintsugi: making repair visible rather than attempting to erase the fractures.
The retreat takes place in the days leading up to the Hunter’s Moon, the full moon that follows the Harvest Moon and has historically represented a moment of transition between what has been gathered and the beginning of a new cycle.
Slow Healing Between Desert and Sea
Rather than packing one wellness activity after another into an itinerary, the concept proposes five days shaped by different introspective practices through a slow healing approach.
Over five nights, Repárate como un Kintsugi combines a stay at Hotel Galería Guaycura with contemplative writing, art therapy, meditation, kintsugi, sound healing, movement practices and holistic healing experiences. The program extends into the surroundings of Todos Santos with sunrise walks by the sea, access to El Faro Beach Club, encounters with the local creative community and a culinary proposal centered around seasonal ingredients and farm-to-table cooking.
Each participant will also create a personal kintsugi piece, conceived as both a keepsake and a metaphor for the process experienced throughout the retreat. The itinerary also includes unstructured time, an intentional part of the concept that allows guests to explore Todos Santos and experience the destination at their own pace.
Todos Santos as the Setting
The retreat incorporates experiences with the local creative community, access to El Faro Beach Club and a culinary proposal built around seasonal ingredients, local producers and a philosophy of conscious cooking inspired by the Slow movement.
Guests will spend five nights at Hotel Galería Guaycura, housed in a historic 19th-century building in the heart of Todos Santos. One of the special moments on the itinerary will be a dinner at El Mirador, overlooking the Pacific Ocean during the rise of the Hunter’s Moon.
Kintsugi: Repair Doesn’t Mean Erasure
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics by highlighting their fractures with gold. Rather than hiding them, the technique incorporates those marks into the history of the piece, finding a new kind of beauty precisely in what was once broken.
Who Is Elisa Salas, Creator of Repárate como un Kintsugi?
Behind the experience is visual artist and art therapist Elisa Salas, creator of the retreat and host of philosophical cafés, whose practice also extends into accompanying processes of self-discovery.
With twelve years of professional experience, Salas has collaborated with brands including Montblanc and Audi, participated in exhibitions and artist residencies across three continents, and created a postage stamp for Correos de México in 2022.
Her work around art and introspection finds an especially fitting metaphor in kintsugi: rather than concealing the history of a piece, it becomes part of what the piece ultimately becomes.
The idea is not to return something to a presumed state of perfection or to conceal what happened to it. The repair becomes part of its history.
Repárate como un Kintsugi translates that image into a contemporary wellness experience: five days to slow down, explore different practices and create a personal space for introspection.
