When we talk about Las Vegas, the first things that come to mind are casinos, gambling, nightlife, shows, and luxurious restaurants. But in October, the city will become the site of one of the largest auctions yet. Sotheby’s will auction a collection of paintings and works by Pablo Picasso, part of the MGM Resorts collection.

The approximate value of the selected works of Picasso to auction is around $100 million. This selection has 11 pieces, of which 5 are paintings previously exhibited in the resort’s Picasso Restaurant. The restaurant will still have another 12 creations on display after the auction.

Among the works available are the famous “Femme au Béret Rouge-Orange” (1938), one of Picasso’s last paintings, valued between $20 to $30 million. The portraits “Buste d’Homme” , and “Homme et Enfant” with an estimated value of $15 and $30 million, respectively, will also be auctioned. In addition, one of the highlights expected is the still life “Nature Morte au Panier de Fruits et aux Fleurs” -1942- valued between $10 to $15 million and painted by Picasso during the Nazi occupation.

The auction will take place on October 23 at the Bellagio hotel, the previous home for the masterpieces. To lead this event to another level, Sotheby’s will recreate its famous New York auction room inside the hotel and an exhibition of luxury objects that will include cars, handbags, jewelry, and watches, to create a better experience. Without a doubt, an event within the art-loving community where the most enthusiastic art collectors will be present.
