Joyá, Cirque Du Soleil, Is it worth all the hype?

Visiting the Cirque Du Soleil by Vidanta group makes you feel for a moment as Alice in the garden, visiting Wonderland. Only that this time the fantasy takes place among subtle allusions to Mexican history and culture, with a twist; far away from cliches and usual stereotypes.

Each element of this experience has been created to utterly respect the environment and jungle habitats. So, to arrive at the theatre, it is necessary to walk across a 36 feet elevated catwalk. This invites you to enjoy astounding scenery, and creates a sense of anticipation full of mystery, and hidden among the mangroves stands the entrance to the venue. Word to the wise, don’t forget to carry a biodegradable mosquito repellent.

Pay attention to details. All the scenery and environment present motifs that help the spectator to enjoy even more this experience.

The stage has been created to, among others, recreate a Naturalium. A fantastic dreamlike space among books, old clocks, maps, and trinkets that shares with us the story of the naturalist Zelig, his assistants the Masters, and his grandaughter Joyá.

To best enjoy the experience and tease your senses to the most, you simply cant’ miss the delicious dinner created by the amazing chef Alexis Bostelmann. Making this the most stimulating of all the ones created by Cirque du Soleil.

The presentation of every dish is part of the illusion you are immersed in. So even before the beginning of the main show, the artists over the stage and in the kitchen are doing their best to keep you in rapture.

As far as the show goes, this one pays homage in an emotive, though subtle, way to Mexico’s culture and history. Among vibrating music, acrobatics, and performances that seem to challenge the force of gravity, and other natural laws, at the finest style of the Montreal company, the spectator travels across chapters of Mexico’s southeast history, pirates legends, winks to the minds of talented Mexican artists and creators, like Guillermo del Toro and Diego Rivera, and much more.

We would hate to ruin this for you with spoilers, so we can only tell you that getting the full experience, and visiting the Cirque du Soleil theatre by Vidanta group to enjoy Joyá, is an experience that not only you don’t want to miss, but we promise you, you will keep coming back.
