Neuralink, Elon Musk’s new technological bet closer than ever

Reading Time: 1 min.

Like many inventions and proposals by the enigmatic Elon Musk, Neuralink seems straight out of the pages of a book by Asimov and his science fiction. It’s about a brain implant company that recently posted a job opening for a clinical trial director, hinting to the world that they’re getting closer to testing this technology in humans.

The trial director will be required to lead and build the team responsible for enabling Neuralink’s clinical research activities while ensuring that it follows regulations and works with «some of the most innovative clinicians and best engineers.»

In December 2021, Musk publicly revealed that they plan to implant their first microchips in humans sometime this year. Neuralink is working well in monkeys. We’re doing a lot of testing and confirming that it’s very safe and reliable and that the device removes safely.

We hope to have this in our first humans- people who have severe spinal cord injuries- As pending FDA approval, Elon continues to assure the audience that the standards for implanting the Neuralink device are substantially higher than what the FDA requires.»
