In art and life, some things cannot be explained but can be felt, such as love, beliefs, fears, and the works of the Panamanian artist, Olga Sinclair. Its creation evokes emotions and feelings beyond any explanation.

Daughter of the Grand Master Alfredo Sinclair Ballesteros – responsible for bringing modernity and abstract expressionism to Panama – her father’s work is latent in her work. There the artist speaks to us by painting and tells stories in the universal language of art.

Olga Sinclair is a rigorous artist in permanent evolution and with an incomparable capacity for reinvention. His first exhibition was at the age of fourteen. After studying fine arts at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades in Madrid and interior design at the University of Santa María la Antigua in Panama, Sinclair has been part of more than 200 group exhibitions. in various cities of America, Asia, and Europe, in addition to holding more than 50 individual exhibitions, in different cities of these continents. Many prestigious forums and galleries have had the privilege of sharing her works, like the Palazzo Medici Ricardi in Florence, the Royal National Gallery in Amman in Jordan and Casa de América in Madrid, to name a few.

Her prestigious career has earned her numerous awards, tributes, and recognitions like the Ibero-American Award for Arts and Letters from the Carlos III Foundation in Madrid and the Doctorate Honoris Causa from the Universidad del Caribe in Panama. And, in benefit of culture, Olga Sinclair has been Cultural Ambassador of the Government of the Republic of Panama; since 2014.

Olga Sinclair’s paintings are wrapped in a poetic environment of textures and gestural brushstrokes. Through her work, the artist shares with us a journey through her entire universe, her beliefs, desires, wishes, fears, and love. None of her personal histories are left the graphic representation.

Her creations do not preach absolute truths but rather present a guide that provides freedom to formulate our interpretations.

In addition to being an extraordinary artist, Olga Sinclair is an empathetic, generous woman who is very concerned for social causes. Especially childhood education. That concern led her in 2010 to create the Olga Sinclair Foundation to encourage in children values such as respect and tolerance for others through artistic expression and love of culture.

The foundation has painted with more than 85 thousand children in Panama and many parts of the world. As if that were not enough, the artist and her foundation were awarded a Guinness World Record for having achieved the most children painting at the same time.

Last year’s pandemic and confinement served as inspiration and refuge for the artist to be inspired. From the warmth and solitude of her art studio in Madrid, she gave life to a new collection; inspired by emotions and reflections. These creations are on display now, in the Foundation Antonio Peréz in Cuenca, Spain. A temporary exhibition aptly titled Olga Sinclair. La alegría de pintar, which will be on display until September 26th.
