Copy, combine and transform are the fundamental trends for the FW23

Reading Time: 3 min.

In Kirby Ferguson’s Everything is a Remix video series, we learn that the fundamental elements of creativity, Copy, Mix, and Transform are behind the trends and hits that dominate the mainstream to create iconic music hits, hit movies that spring from novels or comics, the most iconic works of art and fashion trends. That is true in the proposals for the FW23 catwalks of the Fashion Weeks of New York, London, Milan, and Paris.

At the invitation of the Fashion Group Institute and the board of directors led by Zaira Marino, Statement was present on an incredible morning worthy of a red carpet to see on the big screen the trends that will dominate during the fall-winter season. An exclusive event to publicize the FGI Fashion Report, curated by Sharon Graubard and Nicole Fishelis and directed by invited fashion experts such as Beatriz Calles, Fernando Toledo, and Mónica Almada.

A presentation that takes inspiration from great classics; copy, combine, and transforms them to create beautiful proposals that flatter all kinds of figures.

The silhouettes are stylish with an inclusive, elegant, and sartorial style, with jackets in classic fabrics such as tweed and tailoring in gray shades. The idea can work with vintage clothing or by investing in classic pieces that will last many years. A green approach to style and the planet. And a vision that inspired Saint Laurent, Fendi, and other collections.

The volume will be present in outrageous ranks and stylized cuts inspired by origami art, as seen on the catwalks of Issey Miyake and Marc Jacobs. Although, we will also see the return of sensual and bold necklines, per the collections of other greats such as Stella McCartney and Jaquan Smith.

Vintage looks will be a sure bet with authentic pieces inspired by the sixties and seventies disco nights, architectural accessories, and statement pieces, as we saw at Gucci and Miu Miu. Although also the post-pandemic effect, it leads the creators and the audience to look for an elegant and celebratory style inspired by the classic Dior looks, such as on the Balmain and Emilia Wickstead catwalks. The stylish touch is also applied to denim to present garments under the Denim Couture trend, where this fabric gets fashionable with striking pieces to wear at night.

Prints and patterns will be key this season, and plaid prints are making a stellar comeback, as seen with Burberry and Christian Dior. Spring will continue to be present with floral motifs on dark backgrounds to create a garden in winter and with designs with a single flower in the lead, as presented by Alexander McQueen and Lanvin.

Art floods the collections with designs inspired by classic works and contemporary trends, as evidenced by Diesel and Stella McCartney. Also, to the satisfaction of all the wild side returns in Prabal Gurung, Jil Sander, and Michael Kors that stand out with different Animal Print options.

The joy of living explodes and forgets old ideas to use fashion to express joy and celebrate with brightness and textures previously reserved for night events and now present at all times, as shown by Isabel Marant and Gucci.
