In watchmaking, innovation doesn’t always mean looking ahead. Sometimes, it means looking back to revive the ideas that made a manufacture truly distinctive.
With the launch of the Longines Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve, the Swiss Maison brings back one of the most unique complications in its history: the centrally positioned power reserve indicator, a feature first introduced in 1959 and now reimagined through contemporary watchmaking expertise.
A Rare Watchmaking Complication
Unlike most mechanical watches, where the power reserve is displayed in a subdial, Longines developed its own system using rotating discs positioned at the center of the dial.
The result is an intuitive display of the movement’s remaining energy while introducing a dynamic visual element rarely seen in traditional watchmaking. As the watch is wound and the stored energy changes, the rotating discs move progressively, transforming a technical function into a refined design feature.
Vintage Inspiration, Contemporary Mechanics
The new Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve preserves the elegant proportions of the original collection while incorporating the technical advancements of modern Swiss watchmaking.
Its 38 mm stainless steel case, light opaline blue dial, and the choice between a stainless steel bracelet or a grey leather strap strike a balance between heritage and contemporary sophistication.
Powering the timepiece is the exclusive Longines L896.5 automatic movement, equipped with a silicon balance spring for enhanced resistance to magnetic fields and offering up to 72 hours of power reserve—a reflection of the brand’s commitment to precision, reliability, and long-term performance.
More Than Seven Decades of Heritage
Since its debut in 1954, the Conquest collection has held a special place within the Longines universe. It was the first collection officially registered and protected by name, establishing a legacy built on the seamless combination of timeless elegance and technical innovation.
The new Conquest Heritage Central Power Reserve continues that tradition by reviving a historic complication without turning it into a simple exercise in nostalgia. Instead, it demonstrates that some of watchmaking’s greatest ideas never lose their relevance—they simply evolve with time.
