Reading Time: 1.4 min.

The Mexican tradition par excellence, the Day of the Dead, once again inspires the geniuses at Chopard. Directed by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele in a playful reference to pop art, present the exclusive L.U.C Skull One Calavera Pop Art watch.

The bold L.U.C Skull One Calavera Pop Art represents the next chapter of this charming story, to reinvent itself and surprise with a limited edition of 25 copies.

This Chopard piece is the fourth watch in the L.U.C Skull One series, an exclusive collection of timepieces inspired by the Day of the Dead. On the dial of this creation is a mysterious Mexican skull of pop art inspiration, a dead man’s head, a symbol of this annual festival, which casts brilliant flashes of color in the center of a 40 mm case of shot-blasted black stainless steel and Treated with DLC. The L.U.C 96.53-L movement powers the watch, an automatic caliber conceived and assembled in the Chopard Manufacture workshops.

A striking and colorful interpretation of the Day of the Dead tradition, elegantly visualized by Chopard artisans. Its graphic dial presents a tracing of a skull motif in the tones of the Mexican national flag, giving it its nonconformist character and a touch of pop art. For its part, the black color of the case treated with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) and the dauphine hands for the hours and minutes create a radically dark contrast. The kitsch aspect of the Feast of the Dead motifs stands out in the stylized L.U. The Chopard logo is inserted in the mustache and evokes the founder of the House, Louis-Ulysse Chopard. The watch comes on a black calfskin strap with green lining and red and green stitching about the bright colors of the dial. The steel buckle is black DLC treated.

Behind the cheerful dial of the L.U.C Skull, One Calavera Pop is the Chopard L.U.C 96.53-L movement, a luxurious ultra-thin automatic caliber designed and assembled in the Chopard Manufacture workshops in Fleurier.

The bridges of the movement are beautifully hand-adorned with Côtes de Genève. These components, along with the movement’s tungsten alloy micro-rotor, are visible through a lightly tinted sapphire crystal case back chosen to heighten the feeling of this party for a glimpse into a mysterious and infinitely captivating realm.
