Despertares by Isaac Hernández is so much more than dance, art & tradition

Reading Time: 1 min.

Despertares, the dance gala orchestrated by Isaac Hernández, forces the viewer to question the limits of dance art imposed by tradition. The juxtaposition of classical and contemporary dance does not allow us to identify with a specific theme; instead, it encourages us to focus on the body itself, its capacity, and its limits. It breaks canons imposed by tradition regarding the race of the dancers, musical selection, and mix of genders.

The technical mastery of the dancers with their domain of movements on the stage, free of any visual distraction, helps the spectator get out of the physical space, erases the barriers between genders, and exalts the essence of human movement. In such an ethereal place, questioning the limits known arises spontaneously, raking from the body to the socially defined.

It is a presentation that offers many interpretations, in which some will find a series of symbols and with which everyone will feel very inspired.
