Exclusive catwalks and unforgettable experiences to participate and help the folk art of Mexico

Reading Time: 1.5 min.

Promoting Mexican popular art, sharing and celebrating national talent, and directly and indirectly supporting millions of artisans, folk artists, and their families is part of the noble work carried out by the board of the Museum of Popular Art, also known as MAP Friends. Through exclusive events, extraordinary sales and bazaars, cultural programs, and other initiatives open to the public, the inspiring collective effort of supporting this noble cause and keeping alive the legacy of a great woman, Mrs. Marie Thérese Hermand de Arango, is achieved.

To support the museum and its programs, on September 11, MAP Friends opened the museum doors to present “Renacer,” a tribute by designer Jorge Ayala to the founder of the museum and the board of trustees, who unfortunately passed away in December 2022.

The event welcomed all sorts of personalities and attendees interested in supporting Amigos MAP and its programs to experience a stellar moment in which popular art and haute couture catwalks were intertwined with hubbub to celebrate a morning of art, fashion, and color.

Personalities such as Paulina Madrazo, Yael Sandler, and Cinthya Coppelli, to name a few, walked on the catwalk. Thirty-two outfits created or intervened by the designer strut complemented by clothing and accessories donated by the Arango family, which belonged to the founder,  got upcycled by the designer and artist and now help tell part of the legacy and history of popular art in Mexico and the world.

Some outfits and accessories modeled were auctioned after the runway show to benefit Amigos MAP goals, and attendees enjoyed a toast and delicious sweet and savory snacks.

That is not the first time the MAP Friends have joined forces with great talents to create unique experiences for a good cause. Among the names of the personalities who support the museum and its programs are talented figures such as Isaac and Esteban Hernández, Iván Ávalos, Julio Bracho, Claudia Lizardi, and many more.

You can also support popular art and be part of unique and exclusive experiences like these by following the @amigos.map social networks or visiting their website to stay tuned and learn about new experiences and initiatives to have fun and support this incredible cause.
