A Tribute to Japanese Craftsmanship by Tangerine Supply Co

The Gothic Chapel and the Romanesque courtyard of the Hellenic Cultural Institute glammed up to celebrate with Tangerine Supply Co and the Infinita Company a night to honor Japanese artisanal mastery in the creation of extreme luxury lenses and glasses, their dedication and ancestral techniques which to this day are used to create unique and exclusive pieces that take up to ten months of manual and artisanal production for each piece. 

Under the vision of Luxury Curation, Tangerine Supply Co. is much more than a distributor of luxury and extreme luxury accessories and proposals; it is positioned as a premium curation portfolio to find the most exclusive brands of sunglasses and signature glasses. Premium brands such as T. Henri, DITA, Valentino, Akoni, Balmain, and more, as well as select and innovative proposals in beauty, such as Ilmin’s niche perfumery and prime apparel brands such as BALR.

An impressive garden of ephemeral architecture, created by architect Oscar Jiménez of BePlant, evoked the magic of the land of the rising sun to take guests by the hand in an extraordinary sensory experience and celebrate the fine arts and Japanese craftsmanship of firms such as DITA.

To learn more about the honored value of the night and the artisanal tradition behind the most exclusive brands and references of luxury and precision in the creation of the world of extreme luxury in sunglasses and glasses, guests enjoyed an interactive exhibition with the history of iconic models and the history of DITA; a firm that brings together the best of American talent and creativity with Japanese craftsmanship and its ancient techniques. To fully enjoy the exhibition, the guests enjoyed a glass of red wine paired with a Lady Godiva chocolate, Lady Godiva edition, Santo Tomás winery.

The night was full of outstanding personalities from the extreme luxury eyewear world. Figures such as Mark Russak, Commercial Manager of DITA, Natalia Velez, director of Ilmin, and Rodrigo Alday, Founder of Tangerine Supply Co, were stellar hosts to welcome a dashing list of guests that included names such as Zaira Marino, director of Fashion Group International, Gaby Rodríguez, the artist Rodrigo de la Sierra, Oscar Santander, country manager of Tangerine Supply Co; Miguel Herrera, Mónica Quintero, Héctor Alonso, Paulina Madrazo and more.

In an evening of good fortune and positive vision, guests received fortune cookies with personalized messages to enjoy the opportunity to choose an Omamori amulet to bring happiness, abundance, health, travel, and other good omens before entering the Gothic Chapel for the star performance and the big surprise of the night.

At the end of the function, Rodrigo Alday, the host, Founder of Tangerine Supply, and expert curator of luxury, thanked the guests for their presence, most of whom came from outside Mexico exclusively for this event and before inviting them to enjoy an extraordinary dinner and other surprises, I invite you to be surprised and enjoy something beautiful in the stellar moment of the night and present the exclusive premiere of Mirai, a contemporary dance piece to the rhythm of a live cello, performed virtuously by the great cellist Erick Villasierra, (Carlota, Castillo de Chapultepec), with music by Tomaso Albinoni and the graceful and beautiful interpretation of an extraordinary choreography by Rodrigo González by the dancer Paulina del Carmen and the dancer Carlos Coronel, who wore unique pieces of sunglasses and glasses DITA, throughout the performance of a choreographic bespoke piece, created for Tangerine Supply Co. by Rodrigo González, under the title Mirai.

Mirai is a piece created by grandmaster Rodrigo González, commissioned by Tangerine Supply Co and its Fine Arts support program. Under the inspiration of Japanese craftsmanship and today’s Japan, González created in MIrai an exquisite and moving piece that reflects on relationships, the passage of time, and the vision of the future.

To finish the evening, guests got invited to discover other points of exclusive ephemeral exhibitions with iconic DITA pieces such as the Ironman glasses, the iconic DITA Flight .006, the Hydra by T. Henri, the history behind DITA and how they were positioned as the leading brand in the creation of extreme luxury eyewear and other pieces part of the historical collection of Tangerine Supply Co; before returning to the Romanesque courtyard of the Hellenic Cultural Institute and pampering the palate with an exquisite Japanese dinner and toasting with cocktails created exclusively as nods to historical DITA pieces such as the Mach series, in a cocktail of whiskey, vermouth, passion fruit and other touches unexpected, the Japanese DNA of DITA in a stellar cocktail of sake, elderberry liqueur, and other delicacies and the Mexican touch of Tangerine Supply Co could not be missing, in a refreshing cocktail based on mezcal, mandarin, and other liquors. Additionally, guests had the opportunity to toast with the lavish Oro de Oaxaca añejo mezcal.

Between delicious dishes of Japanese food and a live bar to prepare delicacies to order and at the moment, the guests were amazed by the virtuoso violinist Sara Maiki, who fabulously entertained the party and wore some of the best proposals from the DITA eyewear portfolio.
