Every summer, Mexico’s Wine Harvest Season (Vendimia) transforms the Valle de Guadalupe into the country’s premier wine destination. It is the moment when vineyards celebrate a new vintage and gastronomy reaches one of its most exciting expressions. This year, that spirit will cross the border for one extraordinary evening in San Diego.
On August 6, Valle, the acclaimed restaurant led by Chef Roberto Alcocer, will host The Singularity of the Stars, a collaborative dinner bringing together three of the most influential voices in contemporary Mexican cuisine: Alcocer himself, Sheyla Alvarado of Lunario, and Edgar Núñez of Sud 777.
Inspired by the traditional Harvest Season celebrations, the experience offers a culinary journey where every course reflects terroir, seasonality, and wine. The collaborative menu will be paired with selections from La Lomita and Finca La Carrodilla, two wineries that have become benchmarks for Mexico’s organic winemaking movement and its evolving wine culture.
At the heart of the evening is Roberto Alcocer, whose Michelin-starred restaurant Valle has become one of the leading ambassadors of Baja California cuisine in the United States. A James Beard Award semifinalist, Alcocer has built a culinary philosophy that seamlessly connects Mexican heritage with California’s agricultural abundance, guided by seasonality, precision, and sustainability.
Joining him is Sheyla Alvarado, whose work at Lunario has redefined sustainability through a deeply self-sufficient culinary ecosystem. Vegetable gardens, fermentation, artisan breadmaking, and beekeeping all play a central role in a restaurant that has earned both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star, positioning her among the most compelling voices in Mexico’s new generation of chefs.
Completing the lineup is Edgar Núñez, chef of Sud 777, the Michelin-starred restaurant widely recognized for placing vegetables at the forefront of fine dining. His cuisine has helped reshape contemporary Mexican gastronomy by showcasing seasonal ingredients through refined technique and an enduring connection to local producers.
More than a chef collaboration, The Singularity of the Stars is conceived as a tribute to origin. Every dish has been designed to engage in conversation with the wines and the landscape that inspired this celebration, reminding guests that Harvest Season is far more than a vintage—it is a celebration of identity, craftsmanship, and the land itself.
At a time when Mexican gastronomy continues to strengthen its international presence, evenings like this highlight the extraordinary talent of its chefs, the growing prestige of its wineries, and the cultural richness that continues to shape one of the world’s most exciting culinary destinations.
Some dinners are memorable. Others become part of the story. The Singularity of the Stars promises to be both.
