Love of art and helping at the Santo Gusano auction at BADA

Art Week in CDMX 2023 ended with a spectacular flourish, in an incredible auction of art and mezcal to benefit the Save the Children programs for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Thanks to the generosity of BADA, Santo Gusano mezcal, and dozens of renowned plastic artists. All united for a noble humanitarian cause.

In the face of tragedy, Mexicans always touch their hearts, and this time could not be the exception. Faced with more than 20,000 deaths and thousands of victims, Juan Carlos Cachoua, general director of Santo Gusano mezcal, presented an initiative to summon more than thirty plastic artists to capture their art in mezcal bottles, destined to be auctioned and become part of the exhibition of the BADA Art Fair, in its third edition in Campo Marte.

The multi-award-winning mezcal, Santo Gusano, originally from San Dionisio Ocotepec, Tlacolula, in Oaxaca, is created in a 100% handmade process, extracted from the espadin maguey.

For this noble task, pieces by renowned artists such as Armando Romero, Hernán Rodrigo, Carmen Arvizu, Olivia Rojo, Mauricio Castillo, Ludwig Maravilla, Isabel Leñero, Bibiana Domit, and Ganthaus, among others, were auctioned.

The love for art and the passion for philanthropy set the mood alight and encouraged the audience to bid on each of the pieces and, in all of them, get more than the original offer. In some cases, bids exceeded forty thousand pesos, so this great initiative by Santo Gusano will result in a flourishing way to deliver emergency kits that include blankets and winter clothing, food, baby food, water, fuel and hygiene, and dignity products to children, adolescents and victims in Turkey and Syria, through Save the Children teams.

The auction closed with the successful bid for two murals created live by the talented artist Bibiana Domit, who, like other artists present, was happy and proud to be part of such a dignified initiative.

This way, the 2023 edition of Art Week Mexico ends; with BADA as the perfect framework to bring artists and buyers together and an auction that unites the love of art and philanthropy.
