To the beat of a solemn cello, the philanthropist’s family, friends, collaborators, and beloved master artisans, held an emotional ceremony to recognize and celebrate the life of a legendary woman appreciated for her tenacity, determination, perseverance, clarity, generosity, and courage. But above all, defined by love for Mexico and its treasures.
Mrs. Marie Thérése is described by those closest to her as a woman who demanded to take action. A tireless professional who built an extraordinary home for folk culture in Mexico. A great lover of Mexico and its folk art, whose drive, dedication, and leadership led her to open the doors of the MAP back on March 1, 2006.
With words full of emotion and unsurpassed admiration, personalities like Walther Boelsterly, the museum director, Mrs. Cecilia Moctezuma, Sonia Santos, and Manuela and Paola Arango described Mrs. Arango’s joy of living as a woman full of sun. A lover of beautiful objects and textiles and the stories that they share.
The master artisans could not be absent from the ceremony; they sorrow the departure of someone who, with love, perseverance, and unsurpassed dedication, shared the beauty of Mexican popular art with the world.
