Recognizing educational excellence and certifying leading institutions in well-being and happiness is the mission of Great Place to Study branch, which met on March 1 and 2 with experts from around the world to address the challenges of current education, promote innovation and well-being in its third annual event.
The event brought together world-renowned experts in well-being, creativity, and new technological paradigms (web3, metaverse) in the educational universe. In addition, it granted the Great Place to Study certification to the leading schools in the country and Central America in Well-being and Happiness.
The event was held at Club 51 in the Torre Mayor, within the framework of the month of happiness. Keynote attendees were Mexican school leaders and global education gurus sharing best practices on well-being and happiness in educational communities and creativity, innovation, equity, and inclusion.
The highlight of the event was the delivery of the Great Place to Study Certification to Mexican institutions that ensure the well-being and happiness of their educational community.
Institutions such as the WHO (World Health Organization), UNICEF, WEF World Economic Forum), OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), and APA (American Psychological Association) identify life skills that favor comprehensive development, the prosperity of people and scientific evidence that contributes to well-being in health, learning and socio-emotional life. In this sense, Great Place to Study developed, in 2012, a tool to measure well-being and offer educational institutions the leading international certification that measures the level of well-being of the community and students’ happiness.
The event featured an inspiring program of lectures and workshops, including: «Uncovering School’s Potential» with Dr. Kapono Ciotti, «Classroom of the Future: Space & Pedagogy» directed by Jill Ackers-Clayton, and «The Education as a Tool for Well-being» directed by Armando Andrade.
Great Place to Study is an international certification that measures the well-being and happiness of the educational community. The evaluation runs through a scientifically validated digital tool that, through the responses of parents, teachers, and students, measures different fundamental indicators such as the learning experience, infrastructure, life on campus, co-curricular activities, happiness coefficient, and psychological well-being. Institutions must achieve pre-established levels in the measurement to obtain accreditation as a Great Place to Study (GPTS) institution.
The schools that currently have the GPTS certification in Mexico and Central America are La Fe Anglo-British Institute, Cumbres Anglo-British Institute, International Bilingual Institute of Panama, Eugenio D ́Mazenod School, Monteverde School, Maguen David Hebrew School, Bosques International School, Green Gather Learning Ecosystem, Instituto Olinca, British School Quito, Colegio Celta Internacional, Colegio Bilingüe Báltico, Colegio Yaocalli, The Learning Club, Instituto Técnico y Cultural, Discovery School, Interamerican School, Colegio Loma Dorada, Varmond School, PrepaTec Mexico City, PrepaTec Sonora Norte, and PrepaTec Chiapas. In addition, the following institutions began the process: Calmécac Bilingual School, Balam School Center, Saltillo English School, and México Roma Maristas School.
