Celebrate Malbec Day this April at Entre Cielos Wine Hotel & Spa

Reading Time: 2 min.

Traveling to Argentina and not enjoying a good Malbec is an unthinkable loss. As iconic and complex in its culture as the seductive rhythm of tango, Malbec arrived from the southwest of France to adapt to the desert soil of the terroir in Mendoza and a challenging altitude between 900 and 1800 meters to conquer the world with its flavor and talent of master winegrowers to find a new home in Argentina. Since 2011, on April 17, Malbec Day’s been celebrated at the initiative of Vinos de Argentina, the promoters of the best-qualified Argentinian wine production.

To celebrate Malbec Day, throughout April, Entre Cielos Wine Hotel & Spa offers extraordinary tastings and dinners paired with an unbeatable selection of labels from the iconic grape of Argentina.

Located in Mendoza, known as the land of Malbec, Entre Cielos Wine Hotel & Spa pays homage to the region’s symbol grape through a unique tasting called The History of Malbec in 4 glasses, in the company of its sommelier, Pía, who will open the conversation around the diversity of this grape but with the chronology of the Argentine wine industry and an extraordinary selection of labels like Nieto Senetiner DOC, Paso a Paso Orgánico, Krontiras Explore (Biodinámico) and Gran Terrazas of the Andes.

The low rainfall and humidity in the air create the ideal climatic conditions for the cultivation of this variety in the Mendoza region and in the provinces of San Juan, La Rioja, and Córdoba, which is why, since then, combined with the talent of winegrowers and technology, Malbec has found its home in Argentina: 41,000 hectares of plantations of this grape throughout the country, resulting in products of such quality that they have become a source of national pride and are internationally acknowledged and exported all over the world.

In addition to the experience, The History of Malbec in 4 glasses of Entre Cielos Wine Hotel & Spa takes place in the Taste space, which is located inside the property’s restaurant and is available from Wednesday to Monday from 7:00 p.m. (previous reservation), there will also be lunches and dinners in three courses, paired with labels from major boutique wineries and from Mendoza, mixing organic, natural and biodynamic wines so that guests can discover the characteristics and differences between traditional Malbecs and new market revelations.

The menu includes an appetizer of burrata with grape, dried tomato, and beetroot hummus, followed by a Malbec-braised pork shoulder —which can be substituted for cabbage for vegetarians— accompanied by pumpkin and honey puree, as well as almond gremolata and green apple and carrot confit to finish with the delicious dessert of quince tarte Tatin with Malbec and cardamom cream.

Enjoy this fantastic feast for the senses at Entre Cielos Wine Hotel & Spa.
