Few accessories have transcended fashion trends to become true cultural icons. The FENDI Baguette is one of them. Nearly three decades after redefining luxury accessories with its compact silhouette and unmistakable personality, the Italian Maison unveils a new campaign celebrating the bag that forever changed the language of fashion.
The campaign brings together an international cast led by Sarah Jessica Parker, alongside Jessica Alba, Bang Chan, Emma D’Arcy, Sophie Thatcher, Song Yuqi, Ren Meguro, Iris Law, Tecla Insolia, and MINA, each reinterpreting the Baguette as a symbol of individuality and self-expression.
The Bag That Changed the Rules
When the FENDI Baguette debuted in the late 1990s, fashion was defined by minimalism. While the era embraced clean lines and understated palettes, FENDI challenged convention with a bag that celebrated vibrant color, exceptional craftsmanship, and bold experimentation with materials.
Designed to be carried effortlessly under the arm—much like a traditional French baguette—it quickly became one of fashion’s most coveted accessories and a statement of personal style. Its cultural status was cemented when Carrie Bradshaw, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, delivered one of fashion’s most unforgettable lines: “It’s not a bag, it’s a Baguette.”
A Campaign Built Around Individuality
Rather than placing the spotlight solely on the product, FENDI’s latest campaign focuses on the people who carry it.
Photographed by Bibi Borthwick and set to Addison Rae’s Fame is a Gun, the campaign portrays each personality with a version of the Baguette that reflects their own identity. The result is a visual narrative where the bag becomes more than an accessory—it becomes an extension of the individual.
Campaign statements such as “It’s mine,” “It’s my attitude,” “It’s family,” and “It’s history” reinforce FENDI’s enduring message: the Baguette remains a timeless expression of personal style.
The Return of an Icon
As part of the Fall/Winter 2026–2027 collection, FENDI reintroduces the original Baguette silhouette, identified as style 26424, under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri. The collection launches worldwide on July 16, 2026, marking the return of one of the most influential handbag designs in modern fashion.
More than a new campaign, FENDI celebrates the enduring legacy of a bag that challenged convention from the very beginning—and nearly thirty years later, continues to prove that true icons don’t simply stand the test of time; they shape culture.
