For forty years, lovers of streetwear, active life, and extreme sports. They know that the ideal watch for this purpose, thanks to its hardness and constant innovation that has become an icon of power and brutal resistance, is the G-SHOCK by Casio.
This watch was born from the dream of developer Kikou Ibe to create a timepiece that would never break. More than 200 handcrafted samples were done and tested until finally, in 1983, the first, now iconic G-SHOCK hit the streets of Japan and began to establish itself as The most resistant watch of all time.
Each watch encompasses the seven elements: resistance to electric shock, resistance to gravity, resistance to low temperatures, resistance to vibrations, water resistance, shock resistance, and hardness. The watch is packed with innovations and Casio technologies to prevent it from suffering direct blows; this includes urethane-protected internal components and timing modules suspended within the watch structure.
Since its launch, G-SHOCK has continued to evolve, continuing Mr. Ibe’s mantra of Never, ever giving up.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Casio selected Mexico and honored fans with the presence of Tatsuya Isaki, Head of R&D of G-SHOCK, who traveled from Japan to Mexico City and Boca del Río, Veracruz, to celebrate with fans of the famous watch brand.
The 40th-anniversary celebration occurred within the framework of the launch of the first G-SHOCK of history, the iconic DW-5000C, and the origin of it all. What began as a vision of engineer Kikuo Ibe and developer Tatsuya Izaki is currently a revolution in watchmaking, with designs that challenge the limits of technology, resistance, and contemporary aesthetics.
For four decades, G-SHOCK watches have been at the forefront of technology and design, combining resistance with bold aesthetics; being a faithful companion in the most intense moments. From the city streets to the aridest terrain, withstanding bumps falls, and extreme environments with style and precision.
G-SHOCK’s exciting 40th-anniversary event in Mexico City featured the outstanding presence of a series of personalities who represent various disciplines. Like the influencer Maca Entrenadora and the talented diver Yahel Castillo, among others. In addition, they presented an outstanding group of artists of the performance that included Sergio Young (Boombike) in BMX, the skilled skater Vizuet Lugo, the intrepid parkour practitioner Xavier Dávila, the talented parkour Daer Sánchez, and the innovative graffiti and mural artist, Kail Lara.
