Knowing the rules to break them, a conversation with the Chingón Artist

Reading Time: 2 min.

Studying information design at the Universidad de las Américas opened the mind of Isauro Ali, known as Chingón Artist, to follow his concerns and desires to defend his dreams and strive to search for different ways to communicate. Through art, sports, design, and politics, the artist has sought to connect with the public and inspire them to express themselves without passing over someone else.

An athlete since he was little, the artist finds sports therapy to deal with his frustrations, push himself, and always demand the best. After trying various sports, inspired by and as a tribute to his grandfather, Ali became involved in boxing until he stood out as an amateur champion in Puebla. Since he was little, art and drawing have been his purest forms of expression, although he admits that he has always preferred to follow his own rules and create in his way. The discipline of sports and the freedom of the canvas form the inner balance that defines his talent and makes him aware of his abilities.

Since its inception, Isauro understands the importance of knowing your differences and unique abilities to help you stand out in life, sports, and art. This idea is what gives birth to the Artista Chingón brand. Its controversial name arises from the invitation to Isauro to exhibit his first works among prominent artists. In that meeting, the artist preferred to chat with the guests and invited personalities instead of taking care of and promoting his works.

Suddenly, a man asked who owned the paintings left in that corner, since the governor, in turn, had just passed by and asked about them. Recognizing that they were his pieces, he told him they were waiting for him to present them, to which Isauro replied that they had already passed. So, he suggested a raincheck. Astonished, the man responded in a somewhat rude way You think you are so chingón? to which Isauro confidently replied, No. I’m Chingón. With a smile, the man replied Well, congratulations. You just sold your three paintings. This gentleman turned out to be a prominent businessman who later became one of the most important mentors for the artist.

Creating his niche in the art world has been one of the engines that have driven the career of the Chingón Artist. Breaking paradigms and experimenting have led him to stand out and exhibit his proposals on international stages.

Although he acknowledges that the nickname he is known for began as a matter of ego, the concept evolved to create a community of recognition of talents and personalities under the umbrella of Chingón Artist. Many Mexicans are doing unique things and with the courage to recognize their talent and abilities and recognize themselves as part of this movement.

At some point, Isauro Ali ventured into politics, which left him with a bittersweet taste and a desire to continue doing things for art and Mexico, although from a different trench and in direct connection with people.

Although Isauro’s talent has stood out the most through painting, after a series of personal and professional disagreements and disappointments, Isauro found in sculpture a kind of escape that allowed him a creative catharsis with which he gave birth to impressive internationally acclaimed pieces. This recognition has not been the work of chance. Isauro recognizes the talent and effort of the people who support him and the strategy he has developed and fulfilled to position his brand and achieve his vision under the commitment acquired to himself. Isauro highly values mutual support and planning created together and with a good goal in common, such as the Auto Art World Michelin Chef Meets, where the artist had stellar participation. This event will also be present soon in Las Vegas.

Months ago, the artist had a not-very positive notoriety in the media after he exposed the theft of Caballo, an imposing sculpture more than two meters high, which disappeared from Campo Marte. With a clear conscience, the artist reports the theft of this piece and hopes for its speedy recovery.

The future idea for the Chingón Artist goes beyond conquering the great capitals of the art world. In addition, Isauro dreams of bringing art to the neighborhoods, and he sees them as the purest seedbed of creativity and wishes to help these future artists acknowledge themselves.

Among other projects, Isauro will soon present an international one, created with Africam Safari to recognize the importance of wild species, such as the white rhino, vital to ecosystems. Through art, Ali hopes to overcome people’s apathy and spark a desire to make a positive change.

In the mind of the Chingón Artist:

ART- Life

PATIENCE – I lack

COMMITMENT – Exaggerated

MEXICO – Love

PASSION – Every day

CHINGON – All
