Discover Puebla between dreams and angels

Reading Time: 2 min.

Legend has it that on the night of September 28, 1530, the then Bishop of Tlaxcala had a revealing dream in which a group of angels guided him to a place with a lot of vegetation and dozens of springs. Once there, the angels with a rope marked limits within the site; thus establishing where the city of Puebla should be. The following morning Garcés told his dream to the Franciscan monks and went with them to look for the place he had dreamed of, finding it about 25 kilometers from Tlaxcala. There was the place he had dreamed of, where years later, Puebla grew as a perfectly drawn city. According to this legend, the angels outlined Puebla as we know it and raised the bells to the imposing and towering towers of the cathedral. Hence the original name and the best known is Puebla de los Ángeles.
