We all have basics for all kinds of situations: from the essential garments that help us put together an outfit in a matter of seconds to products that we use in different routines to care for our hair, face, hands, etc. However, despite its importance, few girls, women, and menstruating people have a basic daily routine for the care of zone V. Much is due to the need for more information and dialogue. With this in mind, Saba® and Igualdad present a limited clothing collection to break down taboos and promote daily care of the intimate area.
According to the first «National Survey of Menstrual Management» carried out by Essity, in conjunction with #MenstruaciónDignaMéxico and Unicef, 69% of women state that they had little or no information when they had their first menstruation. Today, only 16% of young women have fundamental knowledge about the menstrual cycle.
Saba®, a brand of Essity®, a leading hygiene and health company, teamed up with Igualdad, a fair cycling Mexican clothing brand, to launch a limited collection of clothing to normalize the conversation about daily hygiene in the intimate area and destigmatize the care of zone V.
This collection intends to raise awareness innovatively about the importance of having a daily skincare routine for the V zone, turning it into an everyday staple. Just as a t-shirt in your wardrobe or an accessory can be a basic that helps you feel comfortable and safe during the day, so should the daily hygiene of zone V be seen. Through the #VulvaCare campaign, Saba wants your intimate area care routine to be a fundamental «basic» in your life, to feel safe daily.
These garments mean to show and exalt the menstrual cycle phases and break stigmas on these themes. The collection has three unique pieces that will promote different topics regarding the V zone and will become a staple in your wardrobe.
Tabú V-Free T-shirt: A basic in your closet, not only because of the modern and daring design that will help you elevate your outfit with the fringes but at the same time, you will be sharing this message about breaking taboos on menstruation issues and normalization of these issues.
T-shirt V-Drop: Another basic in your closet. It sports a small detail to elevate the classic T-shirt and completely change your outfit. This design shows the importance of the menstrual flow represented casually and naturally, as is the menstrual cycle.
V-Hat: An essential piece in your closet. Practical for any occasion, fun, and daring. This piece aims to call things as they are: without fear or prejudice.
As if that were not enough, this capsule collection also helps society by allocating 20% of each purchase to Días de Refugio to support women and children in situations of violence.
