Kuwait: An Ancient Culture to Discover

Reading Time: 2 min.

This year, Statement was present at the luncheon organized by His Excellency the Ambassador of Kuwait to Mexico, Mr. Salah Suleiman Al-Haddad, to celebrate Kuwait’s Liberation Day. Kuwaiti culture is very ancient, deeply rooted, and very diverse, and it is worth discovering.

According to the ambassador, Kuwait has several cultural symbols, like dance, music, painting, traditions, and customs, that form one of the oldest cultural identities in its region.

Kuwait has many celebrated cultural aspects related to music, dance, theater, and many other cultural icons that identify it. Kuwait sounds different, like First Nations music. Music that is closely linked to the sea, as it is a country with many coasts overlooking the Arabian Gulf. Before the heyday of oil, this music accompanied the activities of the people who lived off the sea.

In Kuwait, we also have music linked to the desert. Every activity has its particular music, the music of weddings, ceremonies, and the daily lives of desert dwellers. Kuwait also has traditional clothing that celebrates its national identity, especially for women, as men only wear traditional clothing for winter and summer. We also have natural textiles native to our environment, such as Sadu, a sort of native silk textile.

Another of our most important traditions is Ramadan, recently celebrated. It is very unique to Kuwait and other Gulf countries. There’s. also the Diwaniyah, a special meeting room where family and friends gather to welcome and entertain visitors.

Mexico and Kuwait

Kuwait and Mexico are two great nations with shared values, such as the love of family as an essential core of our lives. The Mexican people are kind, tolerant, and open to other cultures, just like Kuwait. As in Mexico, friendship is a fundamental value in Kuwait.

Likewise, love for one’s neighbor and service to others are integrated values for both nations.

Kuwait to the world

Kuwait is a very modern country that has everything to attract tourists. At the same time, we have the old town where the best hotels and shopping centers await to delight even the most demanding travelers.

There’s even a place for skiing, playing water sports in the Gulf, and, weather permitting, unforgettable desert excursions, astounding cuisine, and very hospitable people.
