The long-awaited Art Week is just around the corner, and luckily for us, the options are increasingly extensive, attractive, diverse, and innovative, and the portfolio of art and established and emerging artists is there to move increasingly demanding and knowledgeable audiences. An original example that presents an international art mosaic of more than thirty artistic initiatives is the QiPO Fair 2024, the fair of independent spaces that returns to the Mexico 2024 Art Week.
QiPO Fair returns to CDMX from February 8 to 11 during art week with more than 30 proposals from cities in Mexico, North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. With a strategic location, this fourth edition will take place at Temoskali, a space in the Ciudadela neighborhood, located between the Juárez and Centro neighborhoods, home of the famous crafts market and the Image Center; a few steps from the Material Fair and Acme Hall, among a series of galleries and pop-up exhibitions in the neighborhood.
Since its inception in 2019, QiPO Fair has focused on collectiveness and artistic initiatives at a global level, each edition bringing together artist-led projects/spaces, emerging projects, and curatorial groups. “QiPO is an inclusive opportunity both for artists who do not find spaces in the market system and for the public interested in learning about other projects outside the commercial circuit,” comments Laura Reséndiz, executive director of QiPO.
In addition to the exhibition, QiPO will present an agenda of various activities, such as performances, site-specific installations, talks, a publications and screenings section, and collaborations with international institutions and fairs.
Curated by Pancho López, the performance program will feature international artists presenting durational performance pieces, including Alexia Miranda (El Salvador), Prem Shiva (Colombia/Mexico), Celeste Flores (Mexico), María Eugenia Chellet (Mexico ) and Mercedes Aqui (Argentina/Mexico).
The list of exhibitors at QiPO Fair 2024 includes artists such as 515 Bendix, Andarín, ArtSpace México, AWOL, Claudia Huiza Presents, Colectivo Grupo de Artistas, Despacho de Servicios Curatoriales, Durden and Ray, eitoeiko, ETAJ artist-run space, futureSelf_, Galería Jaime Nunó, Galería Tianguis Neza, Galería Unión, IMPRONTA, La Buena Estrella, LIBERTINE, MS_Peitsche, Observatorio de arte, OJOMX ARTE, Plataforma ArtBase, Proyectos Raul Zamudio, Punto Magnolia Espacio de Arte, RainartSudio, Si nos pagan boys, Space Ten Gallery, The Black Piglet, The Empty Circle, The Neon Heater, Tiger Strikes Asteroid, Vinegar y más.
